The history in a timeline

Where it all started

Master metalworker Bernhard Vogtland founded the company at the age of 40 on June 3rd, in a garage in Hohenlimburg, Hagen, North Rhine-Westphalia. Springs were produced for the toy industry as well as for saddlery and harnesses.

1908

From Craftmanship to Industrial Enterprise

15 years later, the shareholder group was expanded, and the company Vereinigte Draht- und Federnwerke VOGTLAND and Riepelmeier was founded in a new building at Im Weinhof. Mechanical engineering became an important customer industry.

1923

Continuous growth requires relocation

11 years after the first major expansion, the company is relocated to the district of Hohenlimburg-Elsey. The sole owner, Paul Vogtland Sr., drives the export share of special springs to 35%. After 1945, in addition to mechanical engineering, the agricultural machinery industry and mining become the key customers for VOGTLAND special springs.

1934

50th anniversary

For the 50th anniversary of the company, a new, modern administrative building is occupied, and the production facilities are expanded once again. With 130 employees, the company reaches a capacity of 1 million springs per day. Special alloys such as chrome-vanadium steel are already being processed.

1958

Entry of Paul Vogtland Jr.

At the age of 23, Paul Vogtland Jr. joins the company and takes over as sole managing director in 1966. After 33 years, Paul Vogtland Jr. expands the plant to a new location. Two years later, he was appointed as an additional managing director.
